7. Bareboat Charter Registration

Vessels registered enjoy the same rights and privileges, and have the same obligation as any other ships registered in Tanzania Zanzibar Flag.

Foreign registered vessel may obtain bareboat charter registration at TZIRS as a second Registry under the terms of a bareboat charter party provided that the current registry grants its consent in writing. Upon submission of an authenticated copy of the bareboat charter party, and the corresponding fees, the Certificate of Registry and Ship Radio licenses will be issued and shall be valid for the duration of the bareboat charter or until the expiry date of the underlying registration, and may be extended.

The following documents must be provided:

  • An application for registration by the chartered or an authorized representatives
  • A declaration of bareboat charter accompanied by the charter agreement
  • A copy of the International Tonnage Certificate 1969
  • Consent in writing of all the mortgages (if any)
  • A written undertaking by the owner to surrender the Certificate of Registry of TZIRS during the bareboat charter registration.
